Solved Manual DNS = NTP can't connect

Thanks @Tech9 more clear now. Also, since this was related to DNS resolving, with the goal of helping anyone jumping in the future into this thread, I've found a quite detailed explanation that may be very helpful to understand if and why of issue with DNS and NTP. Getting some grip on how FT...

Solved Manual DNS = NTP can't connect

Thank you very much @Tech9 , very interesting and so far I was able to do litte steps without breaking the NTP connection. I've got just few questions regarding your configuration: 1) why muting all the dhcp logging? 2) how exactly works Local NTP server + Intercept local NTP client requests...

Solved Manual DNS = NTP can't connect

My Asus AC68 is behind ISP router and acting mainly as a VPN provider and VLAN. When (in FreshTomato) I set up the DNS manually adding the one I want (router or VPN ones), NTP stop to work (blinking "Not available" behind Time didn't got caught in the screenshot), the date is wrong, thus nothing...

WiFi working only on 5 Ghz not 2.4 Ghz

Thanks @eibgrad , I believe I found the reason why: Had this in another virtual wireless interface, adjusted the MAC properly (according to what shown in Advanced > MAC Address) and then I could connect. Fact is, this issue is keeping popping out on the 2.4Ghz after reboots, it just change...

WiFi working only on 5 Ghz not 2.4 Ghz

@eibgrad what i've found out is that everything that runs on 2.4Ghz is not working, while 5 Ghz does. Does country rev should be the same for 2.4 and 5 Ghz?

    Securing Home Network

FreshTomato have GUI capabilities when it comes to VLAN. Merlin also have some workaround based on IPTV tagging + CLI iptables (quite painful unless you're a pro). If you want something quick, I'd go for FT firmware: it allows up to 3-port VLAN, 4 bridges. Eventually, add something like this...

    Random VPN connection possible?

There is no GUI option nor in FreshTomato nor in Merlin that allow the randomize of connection. I think the only possibile way is via scripting, eventually.

WiFi working only on 5 Ghz not 2.4 Ghz

Ok @eibgrad I disabled all the routing policies in the VPN client and rebooted the router. Check the public ip and it's the ISP one, not the VPN. Tried to connect to all four wireless AP, same two were working, same other two were not.

WiFi working only on 5 Ghz not 2.4 Ghz

@eibgrad true, it was just a try for another issue (having a VLAN bypassing the VPN - i know you did scripts but have not yet tried scripts so was thinking to find some tweaks without). Regarding disabiling the VPN, I cerainly could, but then why eth2 and wl.0.2 (both on the VPN) works?

WiFi working only on 5 Ghz not 2.4 Ghz

Hello, I'm struggling with one issue I cannot understand: on my AC68U with FreshTomato, i've successfully set up all the VLAN I could, bridged them, assigned DHCP. Then configured the two main WiFi (2.4 and 5.0 Ghz) and added a couple of Virtual Wireless, as in the picture: Now, please...

    Hello

Hello there, I found this forum while looking for some help in tweaking my network. My goal is to learn as much as possible and give back to other users. Thanks a lot to the developer of the os firmwares, both Merlin and FreshTomato (this is what I'm wearing atm!) Namaste!
