Skynet Fallback option if flash drive fails with SkyNet installed?

Not sure which unresolved software bug you are referring to. I know one where doing a software reboot doesn't quite fully work though haven't seen that issue happen recently. The router that I got was manufactured in 2020 (not 2018) and was made in Vietnam (not China) so it may be more robust...

Skynet Fallback option if flash drive fails with SkyNet installed?

Got it, thanks. Luckily I scored some free 128GB SSDs from a place that was having an auction earlier and I think I even got a external enclosure for it as well so I could put that to use. I was wondering what I could do with them (using as a scratch disk or something but I think using a SSD for...

Skynet Fallback option if flash drive fails with SkyNet installed?

Thanks Tech. Reason why I was concerned was that I was using some old 4GB SanDisk cruzer flash drive with my ASUS AC86U for my parents home which I visit once or twice a year (several states away). I noticed that 4GB flash drive would stop working after a few weeks and only way to get it working...

Skynet Fallback option if flash drive fails with SkyNet installed?

Hello, After installing SkyNet and also installing AdGuard Home (and opting in the local DNS caching), I noticed that if the flash drive is unplugged, the router will (kind of?) reboot or at least the lights will go off for some at the same time before stabilizing and then people on the network...

AC68U/AC86U unable to get a WAN IP address from modem (in bridge mode)?

Just following up on this just to provide closure. I was finally able to get around to fixing this (since this was in a remote location and couldn't easily troubleshoot it from far away). I release the WAN as you mentioned and after a few attempts, was able to get it working. Thanks again!

AC68U/AC86U unable to get a WAN IP address from modem (in bridge mode)?

Hmm, I see. I thought that might be a non issue if I power cycled both the modem and router but I'll have to give it another shot with that in mind. Thanks.

AC68U/AC86U unable to get a WAN IP address from modem (in bridge mode)?

Hello, While setting up my new modem (Motorola MG8702 which is a WIFI router/modem combo; family member bought this several months back and only now have I had a chance to work on it), I was trying to put it into bridge mode and unfortunately each time I tried with an AC68U or AC86U, the ASUS...

How to have AiMesh Node run a script once it has an internet connection?

Bump. Curious if anyone may have an idea. Thanks in advance!

Simple tip to improve AiMesh performance (RT-AX68U + RT-AC86U)

Your anecdotal experience makes sense. l ran into many issues with AiMesh earlier with 2 AC68U nodes and the primary router being AC68U (not the best setup but I had to make do... waiting for the AC86U to get a bit cheaper first). If the connection between the node and primary router isn't good...

How to have AiMesh Node run a script once it has an internet connection?

Hello, I'm trying to figure out the best way to automatically execute the script on the AiMesh node as soon as it connects to the primary router and then has a connection to the internet. I was looking around on the forums and trying to research but unfortunately nothing came up for me. I am...

Ethernet Connection Degradation between AiMesh Node and Main Router?

I am off site majority of the time and try to do most of my firmware upgrades when I'm on site. I have done some upgrades while offsite but I try to limit it since if something goes wrong, it will be several magnitudes of more effort to fix it while not physically there. At the moment, not sure...

Ethernet Connection Degradation between AiMesh Node and Main Router?

Hello, I have three AC68U routers all running Merlin 386.1_2 in AiMesh configuration where two of them are connected via ethernet and the third one connected via WiFi (see picture below). The ethernet cable itself is CAT6 and the router initially sees it as 1 Gbps link speed and the connection...

Strange message being spammed in system log

Sorry for the confusion. I did mention that it was up for 82 days earlier though I wonder if one changes the username, the router doesn't automatically reboot for those changes, right?

Strange message being spammed in system log

Thanks for your help, Colin! I ended up just renaming the old cron file to the new account name and got rid of the old account file in the cron folder. Rebooted router afterwards and seems to be okay. I should have just rebooted the router first and see if maybe the issue could have gone away...
