I wonder of it would be possible to install failtoban on these routers? I've used it on several Tor servers over the years and it's a great program to help keep the bad guys out.

@tomsk Thanks for these posts. They allowed me to understand how to get syslog-ng and logrotate working together.

It's very easy in a shell. After the installation. SSH into the router, the script is symlinked, so all you have to do to do is sh ab-solution and you're in the shell UI.

Just wait on the release of v2.1. thelonleycoder has made everything automaticly install by just selecting the correct option in the install script.

I don't know if MERLIN is a VM running inside of you. Or you're a VM running inside of MERLIN. But I do know that both are a amazing!

If you have one you might try a reset of the cable modem. I know on c Comcrap that the modem gets confused sometimes and won't issue an IP.

It wasn't too bad. Amazon replaced the router for free with next day delivery, and I had an older cable modem that works until I get google fiber (soon I hope) I'll bet it wasn't a power surge in Houston that killed the modem. Just the heat and humidity would do it. ;)

@ thelonelycoder, A storm/power surge took out my cable modem and R7000 during the day Friday. Got new components (thanks Amazon!) and I'm installing from scratch. Do I just run the run the new file without any editing?
