Am I doing this basic VLAN correctly?

I need to separate my wife office computer and IP phone from everything else. VLAN 1 will be all of our home device, and VLAN 2 will be for my wife's work devices. Both VLANs will be on their own subnet. I have asked this in a couple places, and am I getting...yes, it will work, and others...

    Hard Drive Recommendation

Qnap support and Qnap forums said not to use the Blue and suggested a NAS drive even on the single bay TS-128A. Said TLER will have zero issues in a single bay NAS as errors are handled in the NAS somehow. Anyhow, the Blue failed after a week and I picked up a 4TB WD Red that was on sale and...

QNAP TS-128A Single Bay Entry Level NAS Reviewed

I bought one of these a few weeks ago and really like it. I have a USB drive attached that backs it up real time. I only needed a single drive NAS to get a little better performance over using my router as a NAS, which was a little slow and for the download manager. BTW, the file copy to and...

    Hard Drive Recommendation

I agree with what you say, and it's why I went with the WD Blue. I asked the "pros" in the Qnap forum about TLER and am curious what their opinion is. Anyhow the NAS is working correctly. I do wonder if the firmware looks for a "compatible" drive and has an issue if it does not see one. As it...

    Hard Drive Recommendation

So I got a 3TB WD Blue and the QNAP TS-128A would not recognize the new drive. Checked that it was seated correctly etc. Pulled the drive and added to a dock and formatted it in Win 10, tested etc and there were zero errors. Installed it back into the NAS and it works. Asked QNAP about this and...

    Hard Drive Recommendation

So...I have the same question. Should I avoid a NAS drive like the WD Red? Or go with a Blue in a single drive NAS?

    NAS FTP Client

I am looking for a basic single disc NAS that has a FTP client so I can download very large files unattended. Looked at the major NAS manufactures and they only seem to have Bittorrent clients. Thanks!

    Question about TP-Link C2600

I have been using a TP-Link C2600 for awhile and am really happy with it. I am looking at an Asus RT-AC68U for the OpenVPN client and moving the C2600 for use as an access point. Will I loose the shared USB functionality on the C2600 when it is an AP? Thanks!

    TP-LINK C5400 vs ASUS RT-5300

You should come to my place. My house has lath and plaster walls. The builder also added chicken wire for extra oomph! I literally live in a Faraday cage. It's also a small ranch style house....living room to the left, large kitchen in the middle, bathroom, office, master bedroom to the right...

    TP-LINK C5400 vs ASUS RT-5300

Just my opinion, but three floors and 2400 sq feet would have me do AP's or Mesh. Personally, the two you mentioned, imho are overkill, unless maybe you had crazy amounts of connected clients, routing needs etc.. My place is smaller at 1600 sq feet, but even the best routers did just as well as...

    Issue with Citrix and LAN.

I have a TP-Link C2600 connected to my TWC modem. Connected to the C2600 is a Win10 desktop, NAS, VoIP and Netgear gigabit switch in the living room connected by Cat6. Connected to the switch is a Linux based music player, Android Kodi Box, Roku, Sonos and Asus RT-AC66U as an AP. So the wife...
