    Asus RT-AC88U merlin 386.1_2 - WIFI setting 5Gz issue

First, reset the router this way: With the router currently running, unplug the power plug from the router, and not just from the wall socket. Leave it for at least 2 minutes and up to an hour if you can (do you have another router to use for now)? Before continuing, make sure to unplug all...

    AC86U - Got fiber 1Gbps but got 450Mbs with 5Ghz wifi

Which wifi card do you have? If it's 2x2, then you can achieve 867Mb/s...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

New (annoying) bug: Also disconnected clients are shown as online (wired). Work for Asus or can be done something in Merlin?

    RT-AC86U failed firmware update

Try this: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1000814/ Do it with official firmware.

Import settings to new firmware? How and why not if router does it?

So, by this logic, "dirty" upgrades should not even exist, in the means of using the router as stable after such flashes. Furthermore, the router should then ALWAYS be fully resetted (nuked... :D), even for minor upgrades such as for example 384.14 to 384.14_2 or like that... Right?

Import settings to new firmware? How and why not if router does it?

Ok, just let me be clear. It is totaly logical for me NOT to import old settings backup to a new(er) firmware... I always configure it from scratch after updating. However, I have a question... So lets say, that I have a Asus router with an older firmware and I want to flash a newer one. No...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

OK, answering myself... The radio disable button in GUI DOES work on the router; what I found out was, that my AC68U NODE was still transmitting. You have to disable 2.4 radio on the node after you disable the radio on your main router... Go to AiMesh ->Select the Node -> Management -> Disable...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

I am. Looks stable, no issues, however running it only for 3 days. I am having a problem with Guest network not working properly but I think, it is a general Asus firmware problem...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

Runing 386.1 on my main AC86U since yesterday. I took time to flash it, because I really need Guest networks on my nodes too... Both radios on my AC86U work without problems, so it is not routers fault. Also, I made Hard reset before and after flashing 386.1 firmware. Jffs partition was Also...

Disabled 2.4 Band, SSID still broadcasting...

Hi, I am having trouble disabling 2.4 radio on my AC86U with Merlin 384.19. When I disable it in Professional tab (Wireless -> Professional -> Enable Radio -> No -> Apply) the router itself shows, that the 2.4 GHz radio is disabled, however, all the clients show that 2.4 GHz signal is still up...

    RT-AC86u vs GT-AC2900

Experimental is the same as "not supported" for me. As a 39-year old I do not have so much time anymore to tweak and tinker with my router as in old days (10 years ago, that is...). You know, family, job and so on... Thats why I really wait until the build is really tested before I flash it...

    RT-AC86u vs GT-AC2900

First of all, I think you meant AC86U and not AC68U... If above is true... ...no, AC86U is better to get. You get Merlin support with AC86U, but not with GT-AC2900. Basicaly, these two are very similar routers with addition of RGB and some gaming features on GT-AC2900U. Not worth it in my...

    RT-AC86U 2.4GHz problems

None of them. As far as I remember, I had problems with QoS; clients took very long to connect to wifi... I only have Skynet, diversion, Transmission and VPN client (NordVPN) configured. Rock solid with 384.19.

    RT-AC86U 2.4GHz problems

My AC86U (Production Year 2018, HW Ver. R1.5, Ser. Nr. JBIM24xxxxxxx) works without problems since I bought it in Austria (no kangaroos...) in 2019. Running Merlin 384.19.
