Asus RT-AC86U - Out of memory / Settings don't save / Log "Argh. No free space left for GC."

Just a quick update to say I managed to do a hard reset on the main router. Interestingly after the hard reset I was still getting the out of memory issues in the log (immediately with out restoring any config) so I also then ran through the "initialise" option and this cleared that problem. I...

Asus RT-AC86U - Out of memory / Settings don't save / Log "Argh. No free space left for GC."

I haven't put any Merlin builds on there which is why I am struggling to find a definitive reason (would understand if I had been tinkering and it went wrong) Thanks for the detailed guide on how properly factory reset !

Sorry that was a typo - changed to 86U! Yes I agree that is an option but also read restoring settings can restore problems...?

Asus RT-AC86U - Out of memory / Settings don't save / Log "Argh. No free space left for GC."

Hi Everyone I often dip in and out of SNB to research and solve my own problems but I am really struggling with this one. I noticed certain settings that I was adding were just not saving (port forwarding etc...) and checked the logs which are repeatedly filling up with something like this...

Asuswrt - VPN server - IPsec - doesn't save after hitting apply (86U)

Thanks for your insight I had found it might be something like this by reading on the Merlin forums but seems like a massive failure from Asus to mess up their own firmware/space available. I haven't been able to find a way to wipe the JFFS if you haven't got Merlin so looks like I need to be...

Asuswrt - VPN server - IPsec - doesn't save after hitting apply (86U)

Thanks for the feedback I tried OpenVPN and got the same problem - after applying the changes (usernames etc...) it doesn't retain the information but leaves the server active. Firmware all up to date and have rebooted to be sure Very odd as I am able to work with other settings on the router...

Asuswrt - VPN server - IPsec - doesn't save after hitting apply (86U)

Is there any one on here using the VPN server function on their Asus router? I have an 86u and wanted to turn on VPN server to access my home network away from home. Looks like IPSec *should* be the one to use and followed the guide from Asus to get up and running...

Recommended purchase for additional Access point (or replacement Router)

Thank you for the helpful list - I had incorrectly assumed the 88u was newer than the 86u it seems! Do you happened to know if the smart connect works across devices in AP mode? i.e. if I buy a second ASUS with than support will it "talk" to my current AC3200?

Recommended purchase for additional Access point (or replacement Router)

Yes absolutely agree - I already have wired to the building and everything that can be, will be. This particular problem is now the building will be getting more use the WIFI from the house is not strong enough to give a connection (or it is flaky) so I was looking for the best WIFI extension...

Recommended purchase for additional Access point (or replacement Router)

Hi everyone I often read the SNB forums for a bit of advice here and there but this is my first post... First a small bit of background to aid with the question. I live in the UK and my internet is provided by BT Fibre (FTTC). I use an openreach DSL modem which is then linked via Ethernet to...
