    Is Unifi worth the upgrade?

I have to disagree with you on that. On paper, ASUS routers might look faster when you compare their specs, but that doesn’t reflect real-world performance. I directly compared the ASUS GS‑BE18000 with the UniFi U7 Pro XG. Technically, the ASUS has better specifications—like 4x4 spatial streams...

    Is Unifi worth the upgrade?

Recently i have made a switch as i had enough of constant issues with ASUS router. Bought Cloud Gateway Fiber with AP and couldn’t be happier. Everything works so far with zero issues. Lot to learn but that was another reason that pushed me to a switch ;)

ASUS ROG Strix GS-BE18000, slow speeds

I have returned this junk. Too many issues. Bought something else and god, what a breeze of fresh air, everything is working as intended now. I hope ASUS will fix the issues though…

ASUS ROG Strix GS-BE18000, slow speeds

Here is another test I just ran. At the same time, I ran Speedtest and iperf (download from the NAS). As you can see, the speed I am getting is 898 + 628 = 1,526 Mbit/sec at the very moment the screenshot was taken. Again, Wi-Fi 6E. One wall between the laptop and the router. More than double...

ASUS ROG Strix GS-BE18000, slow speeds

Random test. It just can't go any faster because of my 1Gb connection. But here you go. More than 650 for sure. BTW - I am getting the same result while testing with a cable. The device I did the test on is Wi-Fi 6E capable, not Wi-Fi 7.

ASUS ROG Strix GS-BE18000, slow speeds

The weird thing is that I don’t have this issue at all. Newest firmware.

ASUS ROG Strix GS-BE18000, slow speeds

If you are using SmartConnect, I would disable it first and then set up separate bands for 2.4, 5 & 6 GHz. Try it and see if this helps...also, because you saw in a review certain speeds it doesn't mean that you will get the same at home. Routers are tested in perfect conditions, without...

ASUS ROG Strix GS-BE18000, slow speeds

No, it’s not capped at 650. I have the same router and with my 1Gbit connection I’m getting around 700-800Mbits on iPhone 13Pro, and practically the full internet speeds on my M4 MBP over 5Ghz and 6ghz. Also topping speed when downloading from my NAS, where speeds are affected by 1000mbit lan...
