Which Merlin-capable routers can do this type of VLAN?

I am reviving the thread, hoping someone might have some thoughts on the questions raised in the OP.

Which Merlin-capable routers can do this type of VLAN?

Thank you for your concern! Yes, I am aware of that. The initial thought was indeed to use ethernet-connected cameras, in which case they would have been plugged in directly into the NVR, and #1 above wouldn't be needed. There are circumstances that pushed this decision, at least for now.

Which Merlin-capable routers can do this type of VLAN?

Hi All! I am rather new to VLANs, so, I am considering my options for the upgrade of RT-AC86U, and would like to find out which of the Merling-supported ASUS routers would give the functionality described below. (I am open to both AX and BE, primarily 88/86 types of routers, including their Pro...

Problems when Tor is enabled in 386.13_2

Thank you for your response. Here is what I observe: 1. When I just enable Tor for a single Mac address, everything works as expected for some time: it an be short (30-60 min?), it can be long (several hours). After that variable period of time, some "switch" happens, and I cannot connect to the...

Problems when Tor is enabled in 386.13_2

In 386.13_2, I have an issue with the Tor connection enabled on the router for a single Mac address. That makes the entire network unusable. I had used this with the previous versions of Asuswrt-Merlin on this RT-AC86U without a problem. Here is what happens with 386.13_2: 1. After I enable...

How to block YouTube - Router Asus GT-BE98 - Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_34372

I use "Parental Control" on AC86U, check-marking "entertainment and streaming" - to block the YT on kiddo's devices when needed. (It is a per-device setting, not the entire network.) However, just recently, it was weirdly working for one web browser on one of those devices in question, and not...

Unkown MAC address on Guest 2

It is connecting but it is not authenticating, as it doesn't have the credentials. See the screenshot in my thread showing the status of this device.

Repeated Wi-Fi connection attempts are not fully blocked

Thanks a lot! Indeed, if it is set in each of the guest networks, it works. I still don't understand why it was saying "Successful" in the logs though...

Unkown MAC address on Guest 2

I posted about the same issue almost at the same time: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/repeated-wi-fi-connection-attempts-are-not-fully-blocked.90309/#post-910021 [Edited:] MAC filter doesn't seem to help. does work, but you have to apply it to each SSID separately, including the guest ones.

Repeated Wi-Fi connection attempts are not fully blocked

I've been getting these lines filling up system log of RT-AC86U, about 18 times per minute.: eventd: wlceventd_proc_event(530): wl0.2: Auth FC:67:1F:40:92:C7, status: Successful (0), rssi:0 This is not one of the devices that was given credentials to my network. When I look at the "Wi-Fi" log...

Can Verizon CR1000B work with other brand MoCA adapters?

I am considering connecting the two floors of my home via the existing coaxial cable using MoCA. For that, I am considering using Verizon's CR1000B router that was given to me for free with the Verizon Fios installation as a MoCA adapter, so that I can buy just one other MoCA adapter. I was...

R6330 in bridge mode suddenly refuses to connect via Wi-Fi to the "main router"

For about 2 years, I've had the following internet configuration at home: ASUS RT-AC86U (with Merlin firmware) being my main router, and Netgear R6330 used as a bridge for 2 Ethernet-only devices: desktop+SMB-file-server and an MFP printer. After moving to a different place, I've restored the...

    samba share from router-attached HDD

Thank you for that idea, I don't know how I hadn't thought about it. And yes, you are right, it does seem to be a problem with the desktop PC's SMB client. (It worked when I connected the laptop to that Netgear bridge via Ethernet. Since I've discovered that almost a month ago, I've been trying...

    samba share from router-attached HDD

I have an RT-AC86U router with an attached HDD (USB3). I created an SMB share. I can access it from a laptop and a phone. However, I have problems accessing it from a desktop that is connected to the same network via ethernet & Netgear R6330 in a bridge mode. (This router connects a few...
