NAS for Plex, Roon, family data

Thanks for the feedback. I´m currently already have that backup system you described. What I was looking now is a more snappy, faster system. But maybe you are right and it would be better to have roon running on a nuc. Maybe it´s also possible to let plex run on that device and use the 453 mini...

NAS for Plex, Roon, family data

Good morning, I´m using a 453mini from Qnap now for some years. My data volume is about 10TB including important family documents and images. I backup every week on an older QNAP NAS and I have some data also stored in a onedrive cloud account. The NAS always had it´s problems when it came to...

    2 Volume NAS

Ok..I think from the side of costs I will maybe then use 6TB drives. So I think I will go for the following configuration: 1st volume: 2x WD Reds (4 TB or less) in RAID 1 for the "productive" part of the NAS 2nd volume: 4x WD Reds (6TB) in RAID5 for the storage and backupt part The second...

    2 Volume NAS

I´m currently using a QNAP NAS but I heard a lot concerning the more intuitive OS of Synology. On the other hand I like the build quality of the trays and I think there is no 6bay NAS from synology. What I´m trying to understand is if it´s a good choice to use the Seagate Archive HDD for the...

    2 Volume NAS

Thanks for your posting. Did your NAs always spin up all harddrives or only the drives of the volume you accessed? I think I will need more than 4 drives because I would like to store the Film, Music and Image data from my PC in a Raid 5 with the cheap seagates and therefor I will need about 4...

    2 Volume NAS

Hi community, i´m currently thinking about buying a new NAS. I have about 10TB of data and ran out of space on my old NAS. I would like to set up a device with two volumes: 1.) The first volume should be something like a productive NAS volume. Here I would like to store images and stuff I want...

Qnap TS-659 Owner needs new NAS

Thanks for your answer. I like the TS-651 and I would start with some 6TB Reds from WD. But first I will have to sell my old TS-659 with 6x2TB WD. What do you think is a price I could get for my old NAS? Would you recommend another NAS from Qnap?

Qnap TS-659 Owner needs new NAS

Thanks for the tipp. I used the RED in my old NAS too. Can you recommend an NAS? Would you stay with QNAP or switch to synology? I didn´t like the Qsync function it never worked correctly and was pretty slow. Maybe I should give synology a try.

Qnap TS-659 Owner needs new NAS

Hi Guys, I owned an Qnap TS-659 NAS which was configured as a Raid5 with 6x2TB HDD. Now I need a new NAS and would prefer a smaller NAS with max 5 disks. I would like to use 6TB drives and it would be nice to have USB3. Could you please recommend a NAS. I use it for storing family images...
