    Different Speeds Depending on Test

As of today: Desktop: Use ethernet connection, with Speedtest.net (either thru Cox website or the app), I get 40/0.6ish. With a USB/Ethernet converter to a 3.1 port, I get gigabit speeds. (When I plug in ethernet immediately after a modem refresh, I get gigabit speeds for the first speedtest...

    Different Speeds Depending on Test

Ok, here is another data point. Someone on another site, suggested I use a USB connection. When I used a USB/Ethernet adapter and plugged it into my Desktop, I get gigabit speeds. HOWEVER, when I take the same adapter and plug it into my laptop, I get the throttled speed. Sometime, when I...

    Different Speeds Depending on Test

Just a follow up on this thread. I've been dealing with Cox and they had someone come over today. Both from the Modem and from the Router, he was getting Gigabit service. He did verify that when running the speed test on Speedtest.net through the cox website, he was getting the lower speed...

    No 5G wireless network

Just a follow up for this thread. I ended up returning the RAX45 and got another one. So far, it has been rock solid.

    No 5G wireless network

I noticed tonight in the advanced settings that it says the 5ghz network is set on Channel 0. However, in the basic page it says it is on Channel 40. Strange. Could this be a problem with the radio? I bought this at Costco, so I can swap it out pretty easily.

    No 5G wireless network

I bought the RAX45 about a week ago. Updated to the newest firmware. Set up the network and everything was working fine, until last night. My 5G wireless network disappeared. I reset the modem and it didn't work. It just did a factory reset with no luck. The 5G light is off on the router...

    Different Speeds Depending on Test

Hi All, I have Cox Gigablast and am having very different speed test results depending on what site/app I use. For example, I use Speed Test thru my ISP (Cox) and I get 22.92Up/0.37 Down. However, right after I took this test, I used SpeedofMe, I get 590.4 and 434.20. TestmyNet gives me 229.5...

Router or ISP - Spotty Connectivity and Speed?

Thank you for the response. Other than the iPad, all of the other speed tests were done over cabled ethernet using the same port on the device. In fact they were done one right after another this morning. I've never tried to look at the modem logs. I'll take a deep dive to see how to do that...

Router or ISP - Spotty Connectivity and Speed?

Hi All, I've been having some significant connectivity problems over the past few days. I've been losing internet connection intermittently, sometimes 1-2 times over a couple of hours and other times it will be rock solid for many hours. My wife does occasional live webinars, so I need to get...

Network Gremlins - Wired and Wireless - Losing Internet when adding a LAN port

Thanks guys for the response. I'll take a closer look at your suggestions later on today. I am only moderately tech savy, so be gentle with me. For your information. I have Cable Modem -> Router --(LAN1)> PC Then from Router ----(Lan2)-----(long ethernet cable run to home theater room)...

Network Gremlins - Wired and Wireless - Losing Internet when adding a LAN port

No. It doesn't. There are so many variables, I feel like I'm herding cats. Started with wireless printer issues, slow GUI issues, now now internet when I have the home theater ethernet connected. I am tempted to buy a new PC and a new router and call it good!

Network Gremlins - Wired and Wireless - Losing Internet when adding a LAN port

Thanks! The cable was working prior to installing the new Asus (and actually, it was working for a week or so after I got the Asus). I am wondering if the ASUS Router may be the problem...

Network Gremlins - Wired and Wireless - Losing Internet when adding a LAN port

Good idea! I disconnected the WNDR3800, but no joy. I made sure it was set as an access point before I attached it. The strange thing with the Asus GUI is that it now shows no wired connections. Even my "Home" computer shows up as wireless. Another strange thing is when I disconnect the...

Network Gremlins - Wired and Wireless - Losing Internet when adding a LAN port

Hi All, I am on my last legs. I recently upgraded from a Netgear WNDR3800 to a Asus RT-AC68U in an attempt to (1) upgrade old technology and (2) help solve some wireless problems I was having with my HP Officejet 8600. I have, knock on wood, solved some of the printer issues. However, in...

    Wireless Printer Problems

When I troubleshoot my connection to the Internet, I get a "Windows could not automatically detect this networks proxy settings". EDIT: Things are working now. On whim, I disconnected a long ethernet run to a switch in my home theater that was plugged into the router. I rebooted the router...
