    We have very good bandwidth and the only reason is, as you said, to discourage them from consuming any content. I want us, parents, to still be able to use it but make it dog slow for them (but not turn it off completely).

    I don't mind learning new stuff - this is refreshing ;-) The only concern I have is what path to follow i.e.: dd-wrt family or merlin firmware ? Which one would allow me to create dedicated network with different wifi password for our children and guests.

    Thanks but I would like to use existing routers. I think it is more about capabilities of firmware: what can be done and what cannot.
