Allow bandwidth based on time of the day

Thanks for the suggestion but I am looking for free solution. I mean I can spend some money on hardware (wifi router) but that is all. Also I need something I can fully customise as one of my sons is IT clever and filtering based on i.e.: MAC address won't work as he will quickly discover how to...

Allow bandwidth based on time of the day

We have very good bandwidth and the only reason is, as you said, to discourage them from consuming any content. I want us, parents, to still be able to use it but make it dog slow for them (but not turn it off completely).

Allow bandwidth based on time of the day

So OpenWRT is the only system which let me do that in more "sophisticated" (read: tune/tweak) way ?

Allow bandwidth based on time of the day

The reason is that I am trying to limit the bandwidth for my children when they come back from the school. I don't have big budget for it and my background is IT so I can manage ore sophisticated solutions. The question is which operating system is the most customisable, open source and then I...

Allow bandwidth based on time of the day

Hello all, is there any router which let me shape home wifi and ethernet traffic based on the time of the day ? Let's say my child have remote lessons from 9-15 and I allow full bandwidth for his mac address. But after 3pm it will be limited automatically to i.e.: 30%. It is important to shape...

Alternative to Virgin Media Hub 3

Thanks all. And yes, that is in UK. I used powerline solution and it provides better (and much more stable) bandwidth than standard wifi coverage but still worse than max wifi we can have.

Alternative to Virgin Media Hub 3

Hello everyone, we have Virgin Media Hub 3 at home. The problem is that the quality of wifi network in the opposite corner of our house is very poor. When looking for some wifi router is there any number which describes wifi antenna which let me compare whether router X (read: its antenna) is...

Wifi router with multiple networks + bandwidth ?

Hmm, seems very promising :-) I think I have last (for now ;) ) question - with RMerlin firmware can I create multiple networks (SSIDs) with different passwords and rules for each?

Wifi router with multiple networks + bandwidth ?

By the way what is "amtm" ?

Wifi router with multiple networks + bandwidth ?

I don't mind learning new stuff - this is refreshing ;-) The only concern I have is what path to follow i.e.: dd-wrt family or merlin firmware ? Which one would allow me to create dedicated network with different wifi password for our children and guests.

Wifi router with multiple networks + bandwidth ?

Thanks but I would like to use existing routers. I think it is more about capabilities of firmware: what can be done and what cannot.

Wifi router with multiple networks + bandwidth ?

If there is no such router then maybe there is a router with most of those requirements ?

Wifi router with multiple networks + bandwidth ?

Hello, I am looking for a not-that-expansive wifi router to my home with ... children (yes, this is important fact about my question ;-) ) which: - is using open source firmware with good community support - lets me create several wifi networks so that I could create one wifi network for our...
