2.4 Network Slow/Unresponsive

I just flashed my AC-3100 to 384.7_2 (including restoring/initializing all settings and doing a hard reset before manually setting all my settings up again). I don’t have any weird settings enabled or VNPs setup, etc. just standard stuff.

Any device that connects to the 2.4 GHz WiFi network is running at a crawling pace, if not just working at all. However, any device that connects to the 5 GHz network works perfectly fine and is speedy as all get out.

I’m at a loss as to why this is happening.

2.4 ghz is usually very congested and I don't think the latest asus code detects interference well or at all.

disable beamforming
disable MIMO
disable airtime fairness
manually change the channel to 1, 6, or 11 depending on which has the least conflict
choose 20/40 or 20 for bandwidth

and report back

Sigh - that's what I figured. It's confusing, only because I feel like I read a lot "leave settings at default for best results" on this forum, but I notice things like beam-forming and MIMO enabled by default on the 2.4 band, 20/40 set to auto, etc. In any case, I went ahead and changed bandwidth to 20, and changed some other settings which can be seen here: https://i.imgur.com/S2uKVyv.jpg (didn't want to post it here as it's quite large).

So far everything seems to be running much better after making those changes, although it decided on channel 7. Is there a way to view which is the least contested channel in my range?

I've been using this, free or personal use.

Channels 1, 6, and 11 have the least overlap and usually give the best results.
