Hi All,

I am fortunate enough to obtain my second AX88U router during my recontact with my Service provider.

I have both router with the latest Merlin Firmware and wonder if i need to configure my AI-Mesh router with skynet and diversion and all other package or I can just leverage it on the main Router?

@mondster, welcome to the forums.

There is nothing to do to the AiMesh node except to add it. Which you have successfully done.

All the services, features, and scripts you have running on the main router are utilized by all the nodes too. :)

thanks for the respond, i ask this becuase if i have firewall install on the mesh router does that offload the ram and cpu from the main router and make the main router to work more efficiently?

No, because the "mesh router" isn't operating as a router it's just a node (i.e. an access point).

Mondster - could you share your impressions of using your 2 x AX88 kit? How does performance look in confined places- before and after adding a second router?

hi @Tomasz kos without the second router devices like my google nest which is about 5 meter away from the main router but between it got 3 walls blocking the direct line of sight. my google nest will always will show trying to connect and my mobile devices which is 8m away with 4 walls block will get intermittent disconnect.

however with the mesh router my google nest could get stable connection and now i see the mesh router its getting those almost out of range devices connected with very food wifi connection.

FYI my backhaul is using a 1gbps wired connection which in terms will help with the wifi speed too becuase the router will not need to use the wifi to send the traffic back to the main router.

i think be it a high end AX88U or a slightly low end AC68U doesnt matter as long as you place your mesh at a correct spot, for me because i got the second ax88 router for a dirt cheap price, that's why i can deploy 2 ax88 router.

just an update, i got an old AC68U router and i decide to deploy just for fun, so after deploying and stabilize the AC68U only manage to capture 1 device attention which is in same room but the other 2 wifi devices is connected to the main router.

the AC68U sits between my main router and the AX88U mesh router. AC68U is within a room with 4 solid wall with a door opening.
