2 routers on same network

RevDrew

New Around Here
Hi, I have a different setup here, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on my problem.

I am using an ISP provided DSL modem with integrated router / wireless.
It is set to use 192.168.2.* as it's default, I also have an ASUS RT-N16 with RMerlin firmware 374.40

It says it's online BUT, I want to use it beside the ISP router, meaning I want it to be on the same network 192.168.2.*. I have the LAN side configured as such and can access it easy enough, it wants the WAN side to be different, I can't install Entware, I get this message
wget: bad address 'wl500g-repo.googlecode.com'
sh: can't open './entware_install.sh'
It wants to set the WAN at 192.168.3.4, the LAN side is 192.168.2.4

When I go into SmartSync it says it's online (2TB drive hooked up for storage and streaming media, that's a problem for another day) I have files in the "MySyncFolder" folder but they don't show up online in my storage account.

I hope that's clear as mud, any way I can get this to do what I want it to?
I had it working okay with DD-WRT but that has to many features and buttons so I wanted to try RMerlin's since I am familiar with his work on the WDTV Web Frontend and I prefer the interface to DD-WRT.

Thanks.

Why not set the WAN different for Entware install and when your done figure out the rest?

Many of the features such as SmartSync will require the router to be fronting your WAN. To have it "side-by-side" with your ISP's router, you would have to either set it in a double NAT configuration (within a different subnet), or set it as an access point (and lose many of the built-in features).

I take it your ISP is VDSL-based? If it's ADSL2+, I'd recommend replacing their device with a plain bridged ADSL2+ modem.

with dd-wrt I could use the wan port as a lan port and everything worked the way I wanted it to, or t least the way I thought it should...

The main reason I want to connect it all this way is; streaming to the WDTV is connected to the ASUS, pretty much everything else is connected to the ISP router, that way the WDTV gets as much bandwidth as it needs / wants.

the RT-N16 will do B/G/N, the ISP is B/G only :/

Perhaps I should look at a newer dual band router and just use the ISP one as a passthrough.
