2x ReadyNAS 104 or DS411 or ?? for home use and remote backup

New Around Here
Dear all,
I am planning to buy two NAS server, one to be located at my apartment, another as a remote backup at a relative's place. Four bays each should make the configuration future-proof, though I will only need about 6 to 8 TB to begin with. The NAS will be used for files only, no streaming or any media capabilities required.

I am a complete newbie and I would appreciate some help to figure out the best solution. Here are my constraints:

1) Four bays
2) Future-proof
3) Easy setup, including backup to second NAS
4) Easy maintenance
5) Remote access to files via Android and Browser
6) Cost-effective

Load on the NAS will be very low most of the times but bigger chunks are to be expected after photo sessions (about 20GBs every month).

So far I found two solutions that seem to suit my constraints:

1. ReadyNAS 104 (~300€)
2. Synology DS411 (~250€)

I would appreciate your comments and suggestions!

Thanks a lot in advance,
Wieland

Synology or QNAP.

Are you sure you need 4 bays? And that cost, v.s. a 2 bay, for an apartment home user?

Dear stevech,
thanks for your reply! I target a four bay system for two reasons: First, I have about 3.5 TB of data to store at the moment. Second, my new DSLR outputs around 50MB of data/photo so I will reach 8 TB in probably two to three years. I just want to have some backup space for additional drives. A three bay system would probably suit my needs best.

Why did you kick out ReadyNAS and why do you prefer Synology/QNAP?

Thanks,
