86u download master issus

I am running a 86u on merlin current software. I am having some crazy cpu usage when using the download master on it also take forever for downloads to complete. It's also the second router in a dual router set up. Also it's my dedicated vpn server. Wanted to use it for the internet speed via the vpn. My 88u is the main running stock firmware. Is there something I need to do on the 88u end to improve this or is the 86u not good to use as a Download master. Cause some how the download2 folder on the drive connected to the 88u wont installed download master on it anymore. Please help.
