AC3200 brick?

Hi, its my first time posting here.... but I'm a long time lurker...
and I'm posting this because I'm out of ideas....
I flashed the ac3200 with the latest merlin fw(this is not my first asus router had a 66u and still have a 68u) trying to get it to work as a bridge to the ac68u the main router but it kept dropping packets on 5ghz so I was playing with settings and at some point the router just stopped responding to anything no ping no web access no ssh.

Also it doesn't seam to go into recovery mode .... the power led is on so I assume the CFE is fine ... but never starts flashing the power led
I had some experience with serial so next I opened it up and tried to connect the serial since it has a header but threes no activity on the serial... from what I found the speed is 115200(is this correct?)
sometimes I would get garbage on the serial so I tried different speeds but doesn't seam to be anything...

I thought at some point the serial adapter was broken so I tested it with the another Chinese router I have around and works fine....

any idea how to recover the router.... ? Please help :(

Recovery and resetting

Q: How do I put the router into Recovery Mode?
A: Turn the router off. Press the reset button, and while keeping it pressed turn it back on. Wait a few seconds until the power led blinks, and then release the reset button. Router will now be in Recovery Mode, reachable at 192.168.1.1.

Q: How do I wipe my settings?
A: Press the reset button for more than 5 seconds, then release it.

Q: How do I wipe my settings? Reset button does not work.
A: If the firmware fails to boot, then the reset button won't work. Turn the router off, press the WPS button. While keeping it pressed turn the router back on. Wait a few seconds, then release the WPS button. Settings will be back to factory defaults.

Q: Is there a risk of bricking my router with this firmware?
A: Virtually none. The firmware update does not touch the CFE/Bootloader, so you will always be able to enter Recovery Mode to reflash any firmware if anything went wrong with flashing.

Make sure you turn the power off at the socket , not just at the switch on the router.

the above dont work for me....
OMG... I got serial working.... seams gnd is a must to connect .... on my other devices non need gnd to be connected for serial to work.....
