AC56U crashed by FTP file transfer

Very Senior Member
Router: AC56U
Firmware: 3.0.0.4.380.7743
Local FTP file transfer speed: about 25~26MB/s, I know this is the max speed for AC56U USB 2.0
Local FTP file transferring target: An external HDD is connected to AC56U
USB port: USB 2.0
Local FTP file transfer issue:
I tried to upload 16 files(800MB each) from my computer to my external HDD which is connected to AC56U . After 14 files transfered, AC56U had been crashed. This happens whenever I transfer any files. It doesn't matter for size and number of files.
After 5~10 minutes of file transferring, same thing happens. I tried NVRAM Clear too. But the result was same.
Any idea?

I've tested 2 of them under same condition.
Result: crashed
My conclusion: AC56U is not for file transfer. I'm gonna throw them away.

Try Merlin's or John's firmware. If you're going to throw them away you've got nothing to loose.

Make sure you do a factory reset followed by a manual configure after flashing the new firmware.

I did everything. Manual factory reset , NVRAM clear... But none of them worked. I think AC56U's hardwares can't stand for that scenario. Maybe firmware issue?
Otherwise AC56U is a faulty product....

What size external disk? Anything 4TB or larger can have problems due to the limited memory (256MB) on the router.

It's a 3TB drive. I've tested AC66U, AC68U, AC88U, AC56U. None of them has the issue except two of AC56U. I'm gonna test with USB 3.0 later.
