AC86U probably dead?

Hi,
today my ac86u as a access point stopped working. After a reset i could configure him as a access point. After this i can´t access the web-ui. Any Ideas?

Use the ASUS Device Discovery utility to discover the access point.

I put him in rescue mode an put the original firmware on it, but same behaviour: I can set him up as access-point and if i try to make some extra settings the web-ui went off. Very strange.

The router in AP mode gets IP address from the main router's DHCP and it's no longer the usual 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.50.1. The moment you reboot the router first time after converting it to AP, the IP address is already different. Use the ASUS Device Discovery tool as @ColinTaylor told you above and find the new IP address of your AP. Or look at the list of connected devices on your main router, find your AP there. There is nothing strange, this is a normal behavior and it is well explained in the User Manual, as far as I remember.

@Val D. : I set him up as an AP with a manual IP. After this i reached the web-ui with success. If i try to set some settings, the web-ui went off. The other thing is: The router only worked directly connected with the pc. Connected directly with the main router (as an AP) i can't reach the web-ui.

What IP Address and Subnet Mask are you setting on the AP?
What is the IP Address and Subnet Mask of the main router?

I gave the ac86u a static ip-adress, with subnet 255.255.255.0 and the main-router adress as gateway. This was also the configuration which worked for years. Today i only could see the web-ui if the router was connecteted directly to the pc. Connected to the main router nothing works.

This a different description than you gave before. Which one is the truth?

Yes, i made a fault in the above description. It was always a static ip.

Use a different Ethernet cable between the router and the access point.

Plug the Ethernet cable into different sockets at both ends.

Something is wrong with this "configuration" and I'm not sure what is a called "router" and "main router".

Is everything working properly on your main router, both wired and wireless?
Is your RT-AC86U WAN port connected to a LAN port of your main router?
Did you try your RT-AC86U in AP Mode using automatic configuration, without you setting up anything manually?

Ok, so here is the solution of my problems: There is an ac88u as main-router in the first floor connected with Powerline-Adepters (TL-PA9020) to an ac86u as an acccess-point in the basement. The first Powerline-Adapters was connected with LAN 6 to my ac88u. And this LAN6 stopped working (https://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-ac88u-4-ports-not-working.28617/). As i remarked this, i changed the LAN-Port for the powerline-adapter. But both adapters still doesn´t working. So i made i reset of both adapters and after this all went fine. With the new port on my ac88u and resetted adapters the ac86 began working. Hallelujah!
