I have a RT-AC88U router. It was working fine but after a short holiday when I came back , I found it stuck (non-responsive but leds were active)
Then I powered it off/on.
It did not start ; only 2 leds (internet & lan) blinked twice.
I tried this several times only to see the same behaviour.

I let it cool down for half an hour. It still did not start but the led behaviour has changed.
Now it does turn on for a few seconds and then goes off (all leds off)

I will add a video of the leds in the second post.

What might have happened , and how can I solve it ?

I was worried that the router got some moisture while we are away because a small amount of water leak was seen at the entrance of our house. But the water never reached the router I believe. And it seems dry.
And if it was a water issue , I would not find it with all leds on , would I ?

No way to predict what water damage may or may not do.

Did you fully power it down (remove the power plug from the router itself) and leave the power button on? Did you remove the AC power supply from the wall power too? Can you try another compatible power supply?

It may be water damage, it may be age, it may be a lightning strike (near or far), it may be a power surge, brownout, or blackout.

If the following link doesn't help the router get back on its feet, chances are the hardware is now toasted.

Fully powered down. and tried with different power source. Same...

But I noticed something weird: power button doesn't stay in. So there is no on/off states.
is this originally like that ?

Try it with a toothpick. :)

what do you mean ?
I am writing about the power button, not the reset button.
So how shall I try with a toothpick ?

more important :
is this normal behaviour of the power button ?
I mean does it have in/out (on/off) physical states ?

wow , I just made the power button stay inside with the help of a tootstick (thanks @L&LD )
now it booted and works normally.
but the power button does not stay in by itself.
why ?
what happened and how can I solve this ?

The toothpick method works. See Better search for more in depth options.
