Access points works off router, not off switch

New Around Here
Trying to reconfigure my home network, thanks to the all the help from SmallNetBuilder!

I have a Zoom cable modem in bridge mode connected to an ASUS N66, which I am currently using for both wireless and routing capabilities. Then I have a trendnet 24 port unmanaged switch (TEG-S24Dg) coming off the n66. All the devices off the switch work fine.

Now the part that doesn't work. I have two wireless access points. One is an old tp-link something and the other is an ASUS n56u. When I plug these APs into the router ports, they work as expected with all wireless clients getting access to the internet. When I plug them into the switch, they don't work (in that they broadcast the signal but I can't connect - I assume I am not getting an IP from the N66 which is my router running DHCP). Assigning a static IP to the wireless adapter doesn't help either.

What did I do wrong?

What do you mean by “its does not work”. Ping is your friend. Can you not ping the devices? Do they correct IPs and default gateways? DHCP server if present on the APs should be turned off.

working now

This appears to be some combination of stupidity and impatience. When I tried again, I was very careful to remember to plug in the ethernet, then power on the access points. Then I went and did a few other things and after 5 minutes or so came back and things were working. So I suspect last night I was just not being careful and I was plugging in the power, then the ethernet and the WAPs or switch just didn't like that.

So I am all set for now, but I'm sure I'll be back as I continue to work through the config and performance testing.
