AIMesh and Repeater/AP Mode Difference?

Other than the convenience is there any huge difference between AIMesh and Repeater/AP Mode?

Aimesh uses either LAN or WLAN backhaul automatically for connection to parent, AP mode only LAN and repeater/bridge only WiFi.
