Any way to remove NULL/npch errors from syslog?

I am getting flooded with NULL/npch messages into the syslog, making it difficult to make out more more useful messages. I read here that this error comes from a number of sources some of which are closed source. As these messages can't be removed is there some way I could configure the syslog to suppress the logging of these messages? For what it's worth, I am running Merlin 378.56_beta2 on a RT-AC68U. The messages look like so:

Dec 14 16:41:15 kernel: [truncated] L/npch ==NULL/npch ==NULL/npch ==NULL/npch ==NULL/npch ==NULL/npch ==NULL/npch ==NULL/npch ==NULL/npch ......

I would encourage you to continue the pursuit on this thread

As a ASUS user, you're entitled to request ASUS to respond. You can kindly point their engineers to the suggestion I made in post #1 there. That's the only place in linux kernel causing the issue to my best knowledge.

While Merlin could know a lot about the firmware, I perhaps know a bit more about the kernel :D

I didn't pursuit further on the thread myself because now I have my own firmware build. It takes me much less time to fix it myself than asking ASUS for help.

If you request nicely, Merlin or John may consider a fix in their firmware..

If you want to DIY, you can install syslog-ng from Entware that allows you to filter out messages you don't want to see in syslog. To set it up is more for advanced linux users..

Hope this clarifies.

EDIT:

BTW Broadcom has fixed the issue in newer SDK. Hence, problem won't be seen in newer routers. So people annoyed by the problem don't press ASUS, they would have less and less motivation to fix it if at all..
