anyone running webmin on their router

i was thinking about getting this installed on my router to manage the iptables, but wanted to see if anyone had any feedback?

I think the problem would be that while you could use webmin to view the current rules you wouldn't be able to make any permanent changes (just guessing). Unlike a Linux distribution the router doesn't keep the firewall config in a single file but dynamically generates it based on NVRAM variables.

Are you sure? I see quite a few posts for folks putting in custom iptable rules.

No I'm not. Like I said, it's just a guess based on the way the router creates the rules. Where are these posts you've seen? I don't remember seeing any in this forum about using webmin to manipulate iptables.

That's my point. As it says in the first sentence of that wiki article, it relies on firewall-start or nat-start scripts. Those scripts are unique to Merlin's firmware. The webmin document I linked to said it uses an iptables-save file like that used in Redhat, Debian and Gentoo Linux.
