What an APE is mean to do

Several comments at the start of this thread debated what the main point of the APE was.

Here's the deal. The vast majority of current Apple non business customers are consumers who have no idea about how networking works. And most of the people buying Apple stuff have an iPhone or few, a MacBook Air or Pro or few, a printer (wireless, wired, USB), and a few more bits. Plus they can stream their music. (I see that most people have the cable modem where their TV/Stereo/Printer is located so this is a great design for them.)

The current Airports are designed for them. With the APExpress most Apple customers can order an Internet package and take it home (with optional free setup at the store) and plug it in and they are good to go. That's it. Good to go. That's all they want and that's what they get.

If they need/want to do backups at home or have more than one wired networked device they can go with an APExtreme or TimeCapsule. The number of homes with more than 3 wired devices is very small in terms of the overall market.

They do NOT visit forums like this.

They are Penny. We are Sheldon and Lenard.
