Important: After installing this firmware, we strongly recommend performing a factory-default reset to activate every new security adjustment.

Security Enhancements
- Password Policy Upgrade – Minimum of 10 characters, including at least one letter, one digit, and one special character; disallows consecutive identical characters; hardens defense against brute-force attacks.
- HTTPS on 8443 – Management interface now served over TLS by default.
- UPnP Disabled – Universal Plug and Play starts in the off state for reduced surface exposure.
- AiCloud Authentication Hardening (CWE-287) – Added layered verification.
- Authentication Logic Refactor – Removed redundant code paths for a lean sign-in flow.
- Memory Safety Guard (CWE-476) – Introduced null-reference protections across critical services.
- Enhanced IPsec Parameter Validation – The existing input checks have been hardened.
- Data Exposure Mitigation (CWE-200) – Reinforced controls on sensitive pathways.
- Detailed Audit Trails – Expanded logging within the authentication module.

System Improvements
- Connection Stability – Core algorithms refined for steadier links.
- Scheduling Accuracy – Timed tasks execute reliably under PPPoE, PPTP and L2TP WAN modes.
- Client List Maintenance – Resolved an issue that prevented offline devices from being removed from the client list

only security update.......I was hoping for more, for example, updating the wifi section.

The readme does state that improvements were made to connection stability, presumably wifi, but not explicitly stated..

And it also mentions improvements to the infamous Client List. I'll be amazed if there are actual improvements to the accuracy of the Client List.

Has anyone updated to the new firmware? I'll try updating when I get off work.
The only thing bothering me is having to reset the router to factory settings.
Will restoring previously saved settings cause problems? Having to manually reset all the settings as if it were a new configuration would take a lot of time.

I asked this in another thread. Restoring from a CFG file will overwrite the new stuff, so you should not use it (in this case anyway).

You should only restore a saved settings .cfg file to the model and firmware that created it.

Having to manually reset all the settings as if it were a new configuration would take a lot of time.

I would keep ASUSWRT configuration to the bare minimum of non-default settings, and when the release notes state...

... then Hard Reset and reconfigure from scratch.

My practice is to always Hard Reset and configure from scratch... in my experience with ASUSWRT this saves time and trouble.

Note what the Asus-Merlin developer indicated in response to a similar question (restoring prior CFG) after flashing the newest Asus firmware and performing the Asus suggested reset.
Reloading that config will completely overwrite the changes done by the factory default reset. So you'd be back to the same point as before.

Normal and correct setting with encrypted DNS to trusted upstream provider. They do DNSSEC to root servers.
