Release ASUS GT-BE98 Firmware version 3.0.0.62.102_36911 (2025/04/17)

And guess what, guest network WAN block still not working. Asus getting worse by the day. For this price and this router capabilities it's as if they don't give a flying f* anymore about customer feedback. How sad.

ps: above link isn't updated with newest firmware for me , this one is :

In case anyone else has the problem. The router itself didn't mention an update at all.

Found another bug, android phone no longer connects to the AIMESH. It connects fine to the base router but not on the "ethernet connected" AIMESH. Did a full reset to factory, reinstalled all, reconnected / re-setup AIMESH but no dice. Also you used to be able to add AIMESH if it was connected with an ethernet cable disregarding WEAK WiFi signal with main router. No longer possible. To add the AIMESH router to you system again you need to bring it closer to your main, set it up with WIFI, then after setup put it back on the old spot with ethernet cable and all working again. Well besides some wifi clients connecting problems. These are 2x GT-B98. Starting to think something is wrong with one or both of them. Also tried with deleting and reconnecting wifi network on android phone (motorola edge 30 fusion) and reset wifi/BT. No dice neither. And weird it connects fine on the main router but not on the aimesh ?! With the AImesh the same wifi netword SSID will say "configuration error" when trying to obtain IP address. All the iphone's connect perfectly on both. Only option is going back to older firmware? <sigh>

<zucht>
ik heb wifi 7 i mesh 2 stuks... werkt geweldig

And how is that helping ?

Maybe you should read before you post. The GUEST network WLAN not being able to BLOCK is a BUG, has nothing to do with settings.

The Android phone connecting perfectly fine on the main one, but refuses to connect to the AIMESH, is a BUG, not a SETTING.

So if you have a "working" solution, I would be HAPPY to hear about it.

Kind regards

4 months and this is all that's in this firmware update for a premium router???? Doesn't even have DHCP reservations for VLANs like the recently released BE98 PRO firmware has. QOS still broken. MAC allow list per SSID still states 16 total addresses allowed when sales web page states 64.

Just generic code used for same security mechanism updates used in other models.

Really poor performance from Asus. Instead of releasing new models all very similar, concentrate on firmware fixes for customers that shelled out a lot of money.

Suggest everyone uses the feedback form in the router GUI or put a complaint in via Asus Support.

I would like to point out that these options, available on BQ16 (same hardware except gigabit ports), are still missing:

the choice of backhaul bands

WPA2 encryption

DHCP reservations for VLANs

The firmware for BQ16 was released 40 days ago.

It seems to me that they have at least fixed the wpa identification with old devices when mlo is active with aimesh node. For the rest I agree with all of you, it seems like a generic update that keeps the router very castrated. It is absurd not to be able to choose the mlo bands at will, no vlan 802.1q tag that even my gt ax6000 manages very well. Asus seems to be going with the handbrake perhaps because it wants to favor other products coming out...

wifi 7?
welke provider?
mlo netwerk?

Tired of using DEEPL to translate the troll's reply. But I'll answer it so you can see who lacks knowledge and doesn't even understand the issue here.

I said everything works fine on the main router, all configured well and working great. Now, my little friend, AIMESH makes a clone of your main router and copies/clone's it to the AIMESH NODE so you have another identical access point (AImesh) (and not IMESH as you write) in your environment. SO there is LITTLE to NO SETTING in the AIMESH to TWEAK (besides using SSH) and since the SETTINGS on the MAIN router are working flawlessly... ... are you getting it now ? Maybe something lost in translation ? If you don't understand it, obviously due to your lack of knowledge, feel free to ask and I'll be happy to explain it to you even further.

So again, ain't helping. Please don't troll.

Kind Regards

finaly some update, but in the past asus did check this forum, right now i dont no they even had a Beta firmware post here, maybe storm the support and say the problems the firmware still has, iam going to test mine to see if this firmware improves anything

Flashed both just now (3.0.0.6.102_37838) , and the GUEST NETWORK wan block has been fixed.. .finally. Working as intended again. But the AIMESH is broken on some devices, it's not distributing an IP address on the AIMESH NODE to some Android devices and a TIZEN Samsung TV. That one connects flawlessly to the main router, but not to the AIMESH node, freshly reset and re-added. When I go back 2 firmware versions, AIMESH working fine on NODE. So def firmware bug. All my APPLE devices on the other hand have no issue with the node. They are working fine too. Keep in mind this is only happening on the ISOLATED GUEST network. The main network and BOUND guest network (same ip pool) have no issues at all and working great. It's only one ISOLATED GUEST network on bands 2/5 (not 6) that is having these issues. Already removed it and reinstalled it too, but no luck.

So only option for me is going back to OLD firmware.... <sigh>
