Asus OnHub AC-1900 / AT&T U-Verse Pace 2 Wire 3801 issue....

Legobricke

New Around Here
Ok... Loving the OnHub but have the following issues and can seem to get resolve.

AT&T Modem/Router has the following attached:
1 - Computer (Windows XP) - Ethernet
1 - OnHub - Ethernet
1 - WD MyCloud Drive - Ethernet

WiFi is turned off and the OnHub is set up in the DMZ+

OnHub Router has the following connected:
Nexus 7
Nexus Player
HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer
Chromecast

Here are my issues.:
1.) The computer can't connect to the HP printer for printing.... It doesn't see it at all and can't locate it... I have tried uninstalling the printer and re-installing. Can't re-install because it can't find it. I have even tried using the ip address of the printer.... No go....

2.) None of my wireless devices can see the WD MyCloud.... If I change the MyCLoud cable from the AT&T Pace unit and go direct into the OnHub, these devices can connect, but then my computer can not see it or access it.

Any Ideas?

so what you need to understand is you are running a router behind a router and thuis have dual nat and you wont be able to see between the routers with the way you have it setup

you have 2 choices ( im assuming you are on adsl here )

AT&T Modem/Router

bridge this so it runs as a pure modem only and connect the onhub behind it running in pppoe mode if your isp allows pppoe

or

leave the modem running as a router and wan bypass the onhub to just use it as a wireless access point

---------------------------

or just

1 - Computer (Windows XP) - Ethernet

convert this to wifi and connect to the onhub

1 - WD MyCloud Drive - Ethernet
and connect this to the onhub instead of the modem

doing this will have all clients able to see and use each other but you will still be in dual nat as in domestic grade routers the dmz doesnt really sit in front of the nat and thus your clients may still have issues with UPnP and port forwarding etc

He might be on U-Verse (ATT's Broadband/TV combo thing) - which complicates things with his On-Hub...

On-Hubs are weird enough as they are - U-Verse really wants to be the router, and the Set-Top boxes for TV, from what I can tell, are IP-TV, so taking them out of the loop by bridging the modem might impact TV and dial-tone for his POTS lines...

Gah...

yes i agree , prob more info from the op on how and what the modem use is and how its setup etc will help

Yes... This is the case.... The AT&T Modem acts as the feed for in home phone / TV / Internet....

Thought so - the 3801 is an older device (Pace, ex-2WIRE)...

Might check to see about availability for the Pace 5268AC in your area - that RG also supports DMZ+ so one can use the on-hub more like a regular Router/AP, and let the RG handle the wireless STB's for the IP-TV services...
