Hi
I seem to have some sort of, well let's call it an issue... Most of the times everything just works, which of course is great. However, from time to time I get into a situation which is rather irritating. When this happens only PART of the communication works. For example I can ask my Marantz receiver (IP communication, wired) what it is playing - and I will get an answeer.
However if I try to change input, or turn power on/off - or any other command, then it will be like no communication, and I can resolve this by "reseting" my netgear switch which is located next to my Marantz amp (the switch exists since my media system has 4 different units which shares the wired ethernet: Marantz amp, Global Cache GC100, Dune HD Smart and Squeezebox Touch - all are wired). Reset is doen by removing power and then insert power again, and within a minute or less, everything just works.
This is strange.
And then there is my Samsung printer, it has the same behavior, and it sits on another Netgear switch.
The funny thing was, that my previous router - a Netgear R7000 with DD-WRT - worked perfect. No problems, no hickups.
So now with a ASUS (again, I have the same issues with my previous RT-N56, which was a reason for the R7000 swap - however DD-WRT is not my cup of tea) RT-AC87 I seem to be back at square one.
The Netgear switches I have is the: Netgear GS605 5-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch.
So question: Which switch works perfect after a RT-AC87? Has Asus any good one? Or is it as simple as I have choosed a to simple switch - it was cheap....
