ASUS RT-AC3100 media server not found

rtc05

New Around Here
Model - RT-AC3100
Firmware - 3.0.0.4.384_45149
The issue I’m having is the upnp media server no longer shows up on any device including my PC.
This use to work and not sure when it stopped.
I have factory restored the router.
On my Apple TV I can connect to the routers hard drive using samba setting on the router.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Not the router expert here and I don't use upnp but I would suggest this. Turn the router off. Remove the power cable and any USB devices you may have attached. let it set for 15 to 30 minutes. Then reconnect the power cable only. Use a paper clip or something simular press and hold the reset button and turn the router back on. Continue to hold the reset button for 10 seconds or until the power light starts to flash. Then release the reset button and wait another 15 to 30 minutes. Then do a manual reconfiguration. Do not use a saved backup. It's a pain but has worked for me in the past.

Hey any help is appreciated. I did this and still not working. Most likely will just buy a new router this is a huge headache.

May I ask how you performed the factory restore? Step by step may help diagnose this for you.

I did it 2 different ways. First way was through the software by going into setting and clicking factory reset. Followed prompts to set up as new router. Second after that didn’t work was pressing reset on the back for about 8-10 seconds and follow prompts to set up as brand new just as I bought it 2 years ago.
I have upnp media server on. Have also tried turning iTunes server on no change.
I have the samba on with this setting turned on my Apple TV can see it but nothing else can. Also have to sign into it.
Have also tried ftp being turned on and still nothing.
Have tried all turned on at the same time also with only one turned on at a time.

Just to be sure, you are manually and minimally configuring the router afterward? You are not using a saved config file?

I would suggest to try the RMerlin firmware and see if your results are the same.

Correct nothing aside from creating my WiFi name and password.
And not sure how to do that. Point me into the right direction?

Go to the link above and download the firmware for your model. Afterward, make sure you do a full reset to factory defaults followed by a minimal and manual configuration.

Additionally, you may also want to format the jffs partition and also use the WPS button to clear the NVRAM too after flashing the firmware you want to test.
