Asus RT-AC3100 with merlin I can't get a vpn to go thru router

Under WAN NAT Passthrough it says
Enable NAT Passthrough to allow a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection to pass through the router to the network clients.
I enabled everything there. Still purevpn on my 2 computers can not connect to any servers.
Is there something else I need to set?
On my old Netgear router it just had a vpn passthrough you enabled and it worked great.

after power down reboot or the router it is working.
I see no way to delete message...if mod can delete that would be great
