Asus RT-AC3200 Smart Connect Mac and iOS

I currently run the Asus RT-AC3200 in AP Mode on Merlin 378.53 and have noticed that when either my Mac or iOS switch from one band to another, I am forced to Renew DHCP in order to resume connectivity. Wondering if anyone has experienced this problem as well?
