Asus rt-ac68u code....

Looks like 306 had some issues too.. It is being pulled from Asus's site...

3.0.0.4.374.205 is the only version available on most OSs and the 3.0.0.4.374.306 is disappearing rapidly...

Questions for Asusnet...

Is a new version coming very soon? Why was .306 pulled from the site?

it is gone now off of every OS on the rt-ac68u...

Hopefully asusnet can clarify what is going on with the code...

Hard to believe all the issues this router has. Its no wonder why they haven't replenished the e-retailers stock. And although newegg.com says Nov. 11 it may be delayed. Still holding out - don't want the R7000

306 was pulled due to the stability issues with Bittorrent and hardware acceleration.

Expect a new release before the end of the week.

haha, I have no choice left because I just notice that BestBuy return policy is 2 weeks for regular customer. lol. be patient and we will get a good FW soon.

A new version will be available by Thursday, if not tomorrow.

As Merlin stated, the CTF module(HW accelerator) is affecting bittorrent use in firmware 3.0.0.4.374.291 and 3.0.0.4.374.306. The new version will resolve this issue and include the fixes+additions from firmware .291 and .306.

Those with the latest FW, how is the USB 3.0 performance? Didn't do well in Tim's test.

This is highly situational. With the same firmware as Tim, I had no trouble pushing my USB3 HDD to 50 MB/s. Same test while connected over 2.4 GHz also kept my connection stable.

The USB 3 Interference Reduction option has some compatibility issues with some USB3 HDDs who don't like being forced to USB2 on a USB3 port. I know Asus improved compatibility with their latest FW, but it's not fully working yet (my NexStar 3 enclosure still doesn't like being forced to USB2 speed).

How well shielded your HDD and its cable can have a significant impact.

Thanks Merlin. Hopefully my Toshiba USB3 HDD will perform when I get mine (hopefully Asus will release them by 11/11).

when you get it, please let us know if you get a new HW rev.
newegg have them in stock right now for limit two per purchase. i don't think the new revision could come that fast, i would assume the process like: they have to tweak the design then send to the builder like foxconn or something and that would take a while.

if they tweak the design, it should be named a new hw rev , right?

i think companies tweak their design from time to time, and yes usually a new revision but not all company tells you new revision inside.

a small hw tweak may dramatically change the performance. For example, Asus may change the new heatsink to reduce the CPU temperature or tweak the circuit board to get better wireless or usb3.0 performance. I will feel its unfair to earlier adopter, and I will call asus for replacement. lol.

for me i don't see the temperature you guy reporting would be an issue, i think when they designing it, they would test it thoroughly. mine just warm to touch consider this router doesn't have that much vent like my other net gear r6250 which hole all over the place but warmer than this one. my gut tells me that just a firmware issue.

Asusnet/Merlin,

Will this build also fix port forwarding for upnp? I noticed it is not forwarding port 3074 at all for the xbox since upg to build 306.

Edit...
I was able to get the port forwarding tab to say it is forwarding to port 3074 on the xbox after about a dozen xbox connection tests...
However... Connection status tab shows the upnp 3074 connections as all unreplied. So upnp is buggy... But port forwarding is not working properly for upnp.
