It means that you have enabled Web Access from WAN which is an open invitation to everyone on the internet to hack you. Disable it.

Thanks for that. The Android App enabled it. I dont use the app so have disabled WAN Web access. Doing a Pentest Tools Port scan and all clear now so am good to go.

You can use Asus App with OpenVPN Server on the router and OpenVPN Connect App on your Android phone. When you connect to the VPN Server from outside of your network Asus App will work like your phone is on your WLAN. This is the safe way.

Anyone had a situation where wired PCs (one on mesh) DNS has stopped working but Alexa streams have continued to work? Trying to work out if it was my ISP or the router/mesh. Only been up a few days and a reboot seemed to fix.

If it was Cloudflare not only wired PC's but also wireless PC's or mobile devices connected to your router or mesh should have had DNS issues.
A simple ping can tell if DNS is working and otherwise nslookup can be of help.

How easy is it to turn the AC68U into an access point with mesh? I have two other AC68Us as mesh nodes and main in router mode. I want to add a fourth router (proprietary) to the system and turn my main AC68U into a wired access point. Will it keep the mesh nodes or will I have to add them again?

Haven't tried on the AC68U but I believe they are all the same, simply select the AP option and it switches over. I suggest you staticly assign the IP address for ease of accessing the router pages.

The WAN port functions as a LAN port as far as I'm aware. The only difference is you only need one connection as soon as you switch router -> AP.

AiMesh in AP Mode has no benefits over individual routers in AP Mode. It’s worse, limiting configuration options.

I have several devices bound to individual mesh nodes can you do that in AP?

You don't have to do this in AP Mode because you have individual Tx Power control. Once the system is tuned properly the devices will connect to the best AP they see. You had to use bounding because AiMesh creates cacophony of Wi-Fi signals with routers shouting as loud as possible on the same channels and you had to guide your clients manually. I can recreate "AiMesh effect" on my 4x AP UniFi system by turning the Tx Power all the way up. Clients get confused what's going on, roaming stops working properly.

Not to mention you can actually script VLANs on RT-AC68U in AP Mode and it's not very hard to do. Many examples on SNB Forums. With this AiMesh in AP Mode you can't have even proper Guest Network. If your new router is VLAN capable - waste of configuration options.
