ASUS RT-AC68U router file uploads

vic1

New Around Here
I have an ASUS RT-AC68U router and I would like to be able to allow, in this case my son in another part of the country, to upload his family video's to my router. I have added a USB external drive to the router for this purpose but not sure of the best way to set it up. Obviously I want to set security options so that whoever uploads to it will not have access to anything else.

I am aware of the ASUS AiCloud and FTP server but would appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Thank you in advance

I would personally use a cloud solution; Apple or Google. This way you don't have to worry about security on your network.

My wife and I have iPhones. My ID is the primary photo keeper and she shares photos with me which I then move to my library. Our photos are stored on our Mac but copies are also stored on iCloud.

My son-in-law's family has Android phones and stores their photos on Google Photo.

We often share photos between families using each of the two cloud solutions. We also share photos using Dropbox.

Hi ApexRon,

Thank you for your reply.

Are you saying then that using the ASUS option is not that secure? I thought it may have been the easier option and that the router does have security options I can use.

To the best of my knowledge there is nothing wrong with ASUS security but I cannot say that it’s easier than leaving it to someone else.
