Asus RT-AC87U

Hello,

Are there any known issues with the Wireless dropouts, or other firmware issues with the ACC87U? I'm in the market for a new AC router for under $200 ...

The ASUS RT-AC87U Wireless-AC2400 Dual Band Gigabit Router is rated 4 stars at Amazon.com

But 20 people out of a 100 rated it 1 star. In my mind that is not good.

The 87U has been an interesting device - either it works well, or it doesn't... and if you search the Asus subforums, we see a lot of comments that it doesn't.

Might consider the RT-AC68U - seems to be a solid favorite of the boards here.

The AC68U is great, but is slow writing to the USB.
I might wait until the RT-AC1900P is available, whenever that will be.

Routers are not NAS boxes - USB drive shares are a checkbox feature only - might consider doing a real NAS box if you need that feature.
