Asus RT-BE88U - missing 160mhz channel bandwidth

however, 160mhz still not available in the dropdown

Select control channel 36 and try again. You can't have control channel 149 and 160MHz wide channel. It doesn't exist.

The only two available options:

What you are trying to do:

...and obviously the router doesn't allow it. The presence of Node in this situation is irrelevant.

The only difference is that after adding the older router as an AiMesh node the DFS was not available on the AX86U Pro.
As Tech9 indicates, your issue may be using an incorrect Control Channel. You have it set to Auto and your router is choosing channel 149. In my case, on a RT-AX86U Pro, I have the Control Channel manually set to 36. As my screen capture previously shown (right above your post) indicates, the 160MHz/DFS is active on the RT-AX86U Pro, and used by one client that is connecting to the RT-AX86U Pro. Screen captures from RT-AX86U Pro with a RT-AC68U AiMesh node active. (PS: note that I do not have Smart Connect enabled.)

Thanks all for patience here, I really appreciate it.

I can confirm once adding a AiMesh node (XT8), I do not get the option to select channel 36 the lowest channel I can get with aimesh is 100 and the XT8. If do just the 68u my lowest channel is 149.

Once I remove all aimesh nodes and just stick with the BE88U, I get to choose channel 36 and 160Mhz band.

Because XT8 was designed as “mesh” system and uses 5GHz-2 radio for backhaul. This radio operates in upper 5GHz band channels only. It’s a main router and node capabilities mismatch situation in terms of backhaul options.

We're nice guys, will give @bbunge a chance next time. 🤭
