I recently compared the new ASUS RT-BE88U (Wi-Fi 7) with the GT-AX6000 (Wi-Fi 6), and the results were interesting. On short distances, the GT-AX6000 actually had slightly better upload speeds ... just a few percent higher. However, once the distance increased, the performance gap flipped dramatically: the RT-BE88U upload dropped by almost 50%, while the GT-AX6000 maintained much stronger and more stable throughput.
This raises the big question: is it worth migrating to Wi-Fi 7 right now? The RT-BE88U clearly shows the benefits of the new standard, especially in range and upload consistency, but the GT-AX6000 remains one of the best Wi-Fi 6 routers ever made (at least I had in my hands and consuming less than 12W). Im considering rollback to GT-AX6000 during upcomming weekend..
What could be the reason of weak RT-BE88U .. antenas?
