It was changed quite awhile ago because using their primary asus.com domain was a bad idea. It broke when they implemented HSTS on their domain, so they had to switch to a new dedicated domain.Yeah at some point ASUS switched from router.asus.com to asusrouter.com . Although I can not so far find the "memo"...
