New Around Here
Hello everyone 🙂

I have just got the ASUS RT-BE92U router and have not set it up yet and need some advice before do so to do it properly from the beginning. I need some help on how to set it up for best security for private and guest network and would like to isolate those from each other as best can be done. I have some WiFi speakers, Samsung Soundbar Q90R and Sonos Playbar + 2x Sonos One all supports only 2.4Ghz. I would like when guests want to use my WiFi for internet and stream music to the speakers (only) be able to so but not on my Private network which only I would be using. But then I would like a smooth setup where I can have those devices also somehow to be available to my Private network too because I would also would stream music to but my personal device like my Pixel phone should not be visible where guests devices is as I would want to use my Phone for Administrating the router when needed mainly because I dont want when guests are over not see when I Administrating the router on TV screen in living room where all my devices is and where my laptop is connected to both router (wired) and TV. Never ever have I done this similar setup and have no knowledge on such thing and that is why I would appreciate it a lot for help/advice and setup? I also have the ASUS RT-AX82U (V.1) with latest Gnuton FW.

All my devices:

ASUS RT-BE92U WiFi 7 Router (Which FW for best setup)
ASUS RT-AX82U (V.1) with latest Gnuton FW

Samsung Q90R 4K TV (2.4Ghz support only)
Samsung Q90R Soundbar (2.4Ghz support only)
Sonos Playbar and 2x Sonos One linked as one (2.4Ghz support only)
MINIX Android TV Box (802.11 ax Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 (2.4GHz/5.0GHz) + 1Gbit Wired support)
Shield TV Pro 2019 (802.11ac 2 x 2 MIMO 2,4 GHz och 5 GHz Wi-Fi) + 1Gbit Wired support)
PS4 Pro (Will use 1Gbit Wired port)
Hue Brigde (Wired)
Laptop: Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC (1Gbit Wired mainly and WiFi for backup/other reasons)
Pixel 9a GrapheneOS Android 16 (Wifi 6E 2,4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz, 2 x 2 MIMO support)

Internet: 1/1Gbit.
Will be using ProtonVPN top tier but not completely on router because some sites and applications im using does not like it.

Highly appreciate any help/advice. Thanks in advance 🙏

Based on the number of issues this router has my only recommendation is to send it back. Non-working QoS (like in most BE-class ASUS routers), weird issue between guest network AP isolation and LAN ports (discovered lately), common connectivity issues (clients dropping), lately false advertising about MLO (minimum support only, no real benefits), etc.. You had to do some homework before buying this model.

OK. That sucks. Is this HW related or can this be patched with an update? Placed the order because its was on sale but yes I should have done my homework. I have not opened the package yet so it would not be an issue sending it back but please read below so I can replace :)

What ASUS WiFi 7 would you recommend in this price crange? Or What ASUS router would you suggest for what im trying to achieve?

None, ASUS or other. All popular ASUS BE-class routers have broken QoS, all Wi-Fi 7 routers support useless MLO just for advertising purposes, many manufacturers use false advertising, no single client device supports simultaneous MLO, dual-band Wi-Fi 7 routers are not much faster than similar class Wi-Fi 6 routers, many models are overpriced. RT-BE92U in particular has V4 revision already, perhaps ASUS is trying to fix hardware issues on top of software issues they have. ASUS created a mess with AiMesh compatibility, your existing RT-AX82U on 3004.388 firmware will have limited compatibility to a new router running 3006.102 firmware. Use Search, a lot of information on SNB Forums. Good luck!
