ASUS RT-N56U interaction between 2.4GHz & 5GHz networks

hi

is there a way for me to set up the router so my Sony DVD Player, on the 5GHz Wireless network, can see my DLNA server, on the 2.4GHz Wireless Network?

I have the latest firmware 1.0.1.8d

It should just work.

I have my Samsung Smart TV on 5 GHz, and my laptop on 2.4 and they talk to each other just fine. I can push or pull movies on my TV with no problems (Laptop W7 with WMP12)

Now using the RT-N56U as the DLNA server with an attached HD, that's been "interesting" to say the least. But this might deserve a separate thread.

Both Wireless spectrum can see the ethernet computer just fine (my desktop), but the 5GHz Sony BD player does not see my DLNA server on my laptop (2.4GHz) unless it is also connected to the same 2.4GHz network.

Hmmmm...

Hate to recommend this, but try resetting the router to factory defaults (press/hold reset button), power down/up, then re-config your settings (write down your current settings before hand). Try to keep the configuration as "simple" as possible. i.e. Just the minimum changes to get your network up and running. Oh, and power cycle after you've done configuring.

I know that some suggest doing a router settings backup, reset, restore, but I've had issues sometimes with that method on this model router.

One thought, make sure that "Set AP Isolated" is set to "No". That's on the "Professional" settings tab for "Wireless".

Set AP Isolated has been "No" for both network. Still nothing

Maybe I'll give the factory reset a try.

i am experiencing a similar issue: my desktop computer is plugged in through the ethernet port and when the TV connects through the 5Ghz, it does not see the desktop computer. However, if i switch it to the 2.4Ghz band, it recognizes the desktop pc and i can stream my photos movies etc..

The only problem is that the 2.4Ghz signal is not as stable as the 5Ghz signal where i am.

Anybody help?

Make sure you didn't enable AP client isolation on the Wireless Professional settings.
