Asus RT-N66U / CTF aka HW-NAT

Hi,

I'm using the RT-N66U with Merlin 380.68_4 firmware. It works great. Now I'm not sure if Merlin supports Hardware Nat (called CTF if I'm correct?)? I have it set on Auto and it says enabled.
I have 100/100 Mbit/s at the moment (PPoE over WAN), but I will upgrade to 1000/200 Mbit/s. I wonder if this router is capable to handle the gigabit speed for WAN, and if CTF is working properly?

EDIT: one more questions: should I enable Jumbo Frames or not? What is the pro/contra?

Thanks!

The N66U definitely does support hardware acceleration, but I don't know whether it's compatible with PPoE. It's probably best to ask your question in the Merlin forum rather than the Official Asus forum .

Things like QoS, VPN and Traffic Monitoring will disable hardware acceleration.

People have reported a maximum throughput of 850 - 900 Mb/s with the N66U.

Regarding Jumbo frames, I don't think anybody on these forums have ever reported seeing improvement by turning it on, so I'd leave it off. For jumbo frames to be a benefit you need all the devices involved configured to use them. And unless your WAN link is also using jumbo frames you could actually reduce WAN to LAN speeds because of packet fragmentation.
