Hi. Been running 3.0.0.4.376_2524 for a month or so. No matter what I try I can't get the firewall to block any sites. I have tried URL and keyword fields to no avail.
Is there a specific format that I need to use?
I have enabled the firewall and the log shows restart of firewall after I apply the rules.
Help appreciated.

As written at the top of the page, those features won't work properly with HTTPS websites, as the router has no way of decrypting that data.

what about http ?

Sure but it does not even block "http".
I also tried adding 74.125.237.* for ports 79:444 (to cover port 80 and 443) in the blacklist but this does not work either.

What simple thing am I doing wrong that I can't block sites, or do these functions not work on this router?

The TPLink router it replaced could do it.

Do you have Parental Control turned on? If so, try turning it off and see if it makes a difference.

Still does not work

Thanks for the suggestions folks.
Tried
1) turning off Parental Control, this had no effect on keyword or URL filter.
2) IPV6 - this was already disabled so no effect

I am guessing people just don't use these features but it seems ridiculous that these features do not work at all from what I can see.

Putting in the IP address in a blacklist appears not to work either. I would have thought this would be a very simple application. Very disappointed that none of these features can be made to work

I've logged a problem with ASUS and it has been passed to the R&D team. Hopefully they can tell me what the issue is and how to resolve it.

Thanks again to the folk who have offered advice. Appreciate it.

Are you rebooting the router and the client computer after you make any adjustments?

Is the network stack on default settings?

Just checking...

Definitely a bug

Ok I just received this email from ASUS R&D confirming the issue and that it will be addressed next firmware :)
In the meantime to cover this issue I have loaded asuswrt-merlin and am using OpenDNS, DNS-o-matic and No-Ip so that I can filter the unwanted sites.
