Asus RT-N66U or Netgear R6300

I've narrowed it down to these two routers.

I'm running iPhones x 2, iPads x 2, PS3 x 3, laptops x 3 and Xbox x 3. At anyone time there are 8 devices on the network and my aging DIR-655 is dropping the connection 2 to three times a day.

I want to push the iPads and iPhones to the 5Ghz to free up the 2.4Ghz.

Thoughts on the best router?

x2 I'm considering these two as well.

Well I purchased the N66U, but I find the 2.4Ghz to be a little inconsistent. That said, IE seems faster than Firefox and I was using the latter initially. I think this may have screwed my initial impression.

So far it seems to be working well.

I may pick the Netgear R6300 up to do a comparison.

Well I bought the Netgear R6300 and tried for a couple of days. I hated the way it looked and while the 5Ghz performance was good I kept the Asus RT-N66U. The Netgear went back today.

Buffalo WZR-600DHP - 85 bucks at Amazon - good stuff...

They do their own stuff, much like Apple, rather than outsource it to Chinese ODM's at the lowest bid (Netgear/Linksys/D-Link).

Of course, you could also skip the brand and go direct to the cheap ODM via ASUS...

(ASUS - you screwed me on two motherboards, and I'll never buy another ASUS product again, never!)
