Important: After installing this firmware, we strongly recommend performing a factory-default reset to activate every new security adjustment.

Security Enhancements
- Password Policy Upgrade – Minimum of 10 characters, including at least one letter, one digit, and one special character; disallows consecutive identical characters; hardens defense against brute-force attacks.
- HTTPS on 8443 – Management interface now served over TLS by default.
- UPnP Disabled – Universal Plug and Play starts in the off state for reduced surface exposure.
- AiCloud Authentication Hardening (CWE-287) – Added layered verification.
- Authentication Logic Refactor – Removed redundant code paths for a lean sign-in flow.
- Memory Safety Guard (CWE-476) – Introduced null-reference protections across critical services.
- Enhanced IPsec Parameter Validation – The existing input checks have been hardened.
- Data Exposure Mitigation (CWE-200) – Reinforced controls on sensitive pathways.
- Detailed Audit Trails – Expanded logging within the authentication module.

System Improvements
- Connection Stability – Core algorithms refined for steadier links.
- Scheduling Accuracy – Timed tasks execute reliably under PPPoE, PPTP and L2TP WAN modes.
- Client List Maintenance – Resolved an issue that prevented offline devices from being removed from the client list

After upgrading FW, WiFi just doesn’t load at all mostly on phones.

This means nothing. Depending on settings you may have 1-10min waiting time for DFS CAC and some devices may refuse to reconnect after long periods of preferred AP unavailable or frequent channel hunting on Auto. Before blaming firmware - check your settings.

I don’t think settings is an issue in this case. Have been using 3.0.0.4.388_33506 since every firmware after this had the same issue. Was even reported here.

Haven’t changed anything. Did a factory reset even and backed up the settings so nothing would change.

Well... if you don't tell what settings you have no one here can help you. Use Feedback form and report the issue to Asus.

If you believe Asus firmware is not good, you feel adventurous and know what are you doing - OpenWrt option for this model:

After you Reset the firmware, do you configure the router from scratch or restore old settings from the previous firmware?

Tried both you mentioned.

I have been using only WiFi this day on work notebook and works flawlessly. As soon as I try to use WiFi on a phone it’s either doesn’t load anything, or only loads texts but not pictures.

I have this issue exactly since 3.0.0.4.388_33903.

Update and reset your router as recommended, reconfigure manually from scratch, use standard fixed channels (6 at 20MHz on 2.4GHz band, 36 at 80MHz on 5GHz band) and see how it goes. For extra stability and more control - disable Smart Connect. Good luck!

Reset and reconfiguration was made yesterday when doing the Firmware update. 6 at 20MHz on 2.4GHz band, 36 at 80MHz on 5GHz band seems to have solved the issue for now. Still don't know what was causing it since I was using the default settings for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz on both firmwares.

But for now it seems to be working, so thank you for your time and help!

Your complaint is actually valid because Asuswrt default settings are mostly Auto and may not work well in all regions and environments. This is a consumer product and the users don't have to know how Wi-Fi works. Glad to help.
