16+ months since its $48.5 billion purchase of DIRECTV, AT&T announced three new streaming services – DIRECTV NOW, Fullscreen, and FreeVIEW - targeting households that have cut the cord.

For AT&T customers, DIRECTV NOW and Fullscreen will be app-based “data free” offerings that won’t consume customers’ mobile data as streamed content, including sports, on-demand, movies and shows to be played on a variety of tablets, smartphones and TVs.

DIRECTV NOW offers the following ad-free subscription packages based on DIRECTV’s existing satellite service:
  • Live a Little – $35 / month (60+ channels)
  • Just Right – $50 / month (80+ channels)
  • Go Big – $60 / month (100+ channels)
  • Gotta Have it – $70 / month (120+ channels)
Supported devices for DIRECTV NOW include, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Android mobile devices and tablets, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, Chromecast (Android at launch; iOS in 2017), Google Cast-enabled LeEco ecotvs and VIZIO SmartCast Displays, and Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari web browsers. AT&T will also add Roku streaming and Roku TV models, Amazon Fire tablets, and Samsung Smart TVs in 2017.

The Fullscreen streaming app will be directed towards today’s mobile video user. For $5.99 per month, customers can watch more than 1500 hours of TV, movies, and streaming content, all ad- free on their iPhone, iPad, select Android Phones, Chromecast and Apple TV devices.

Using the DIRECTV app, non-paying customers can use FreeVIEW, the third AT&T streaming service. FreeVIEW provide its viewers with free ad-supported content sampled from select DIRECTV NOW channels.

The new app-based DIRECTV NOW, Fullscreen and FreeVIEW streaming services launch on November 30th, 2016. Besides the streaming services, AT&T will also continue to offer DIRECTV satellite, and its own U-Verse TV and internet services.
