ASUS routers with USB port can be used for powering, for example, a IP cam conected to USB port
We are talking about 3 W more or less
This is because I can poer a RT-AX59U in AP mode by a POE splitter, and attacha a IP cam to USB output for powering the cam
anyyone power devices using router USB port?

A long time ago my AC86U had a cooling fan that was USB powered. The only other device that should be USB powered is a thumb drive.
As for that AC86U it is now in a recycle bin.
Mess with the router power and you will have a brick!

The router's usb port doesn't have the power or speed to be considered a "true" usb port. Best only for thumb drives or low/self powered SSDs.

While the router's USB port(s) can provide "power" to attached USB devices, there are limitations to the amount of power those ports can provide and output to down stream USB devices. If you plan to drive multiple USB devices from your router's USB port(s) then you will likely need to use a powered USB hub or independently powered USB external device(s). There are more than a few USB devices, desktop style hard drives (3.5 inch HDD) for example, that will not be able to draw enough power from the router's USB port(s) and will need their own external power.
