AX3000 - After restoring config password doesn't work

Just going to type out the solution should someone come across this post in the future.

If you accidentally check...


...the fix is to download this script:

Open up powershell as admin, and run the script:

It will give you an output of something like:


Log back into your router with the username and password that consists of EIGHT X's: xxxxxxxx

From there, change your username & password in:



Then change your Wifi passwords, and DDNS.

Finally, once everything is setup make a GOOD backup of your config file.

i took the time to register for this forum i had never heard of until yesterday, and waited time to be authorised just to say thank you as this was incredibly helpful

I did have a backup and used both the check and uncheck box options and saved them both incase i took the wrong one, but both after restoring didnt put back on my passwords as i replaced the ax86u (moving house, i damaged the router but not enough that i couldnt get on and back up the settings). Having to do it all again would be a massive pain so this was a complete lifesaver

I actually think its super weird to not store passwords in the config feile in either version and can only assume this is a bug on their part surely as it restored everything else instantly..
