Hi,
Not sure where to place this, but its an issue I'm experiencing with my AX3000v2 running Merlin (as modem + router) in combination with Fritz!Powerline 1220E.
After updating firmware on the Powerline adapters, overnight all LAN connections appear to have lost their connection to the ASUS. (Devices connected are other ASUS access points (also AX3000v2's, but in AP mode), a Netgear switch, NAS and some peripherals like home alarm; rest is pretty much all WiFi)
After rebooting all devices, the issue was not remediated. It appeared that through the LAN ports, no DHCP requests are being responded to. (Eg: when I walked up to the 2nd access point, I get full strength WiFi; but no IP address is given to my laptop and the AP doesn't respond on its https port. The AP has a static config, but it needs the modem ASUS to distribute IP's) When looking in the connected clients list of the modem ASUS, the only thing wired that for some reason kept working is the Synology NAS. The rest of the clients are all WiFi - which worked fine and delivered symmetric ~900MBit/sec to the speedtest servers; so no issues on that end. The netgear switch, the other ASUS accesspoints, etc. etc.: they all don't even show up as being connected. It sees there is a cable connected as the lights turn on, but nobody is home. You can imagine how puzzled I was after learning nothing conspicuous was showing up in the logs that I could see. So figured what the heck and even disconnected the power from the modem + all access points instead of issuing reboot command. Still no joy.
So the only thing I changed was a.) a few days ago I ripped out the old Devolo's I had and put the Fritz!Powerline in their stead, b.) last night I updated the Fritz! firmware. As such, I pulled the RJ45 to the Fritz! Powerline adapter and rebooted everything again. Lo and behold: everything comes back online this time. All devices that previously could not connect now happily connect again and the full roaming network is restored to function as expected.
... But I don't understand why. I was hoping maybe someone here has seen similar behavior and figured out wtf is going on. I ran WireShark and I don't see the Fritz! responding to DHCP requests, so it doesn't appear to be an issue of having a rogue DHCP server; but I'm not 100% confident on that.
Either way: disconnecting the 1220E from the modem = sunshine and rainbows, everything works. Any ideas as to where on earth I could start troubleshooting this? Or has anyone seen this before? A google search on snbforums didn't yield results for me and the search function of the forum itself didn't either. (Fritz is mentioned *a lot*, but pretty much mostly positively and no issues such as this.)
Thanks a ton for any insights.
