AX86U with AC88U as node for AIMESH?

Currently on a AC88u, wanted to upgrade to kill the wifi deadspots in the home and get better OpenVPN performance.
Would the AX88U be a good option to use as the main router for VPN/AIMESH and use my older AC88U as the node for that?

That should work well. Particularly in a wired AiMesh set up.

You may have to test whether AX mode on the main router will work together with the AC node. This will mostly depend on your client devices.

Okay, yeah I'm planning on having them use a ethernet backhaul. I have a couple of Wifi 6 devices so I guess i can use those to test the AX capabilities
